Florida man charged with cyberstalking, pleads guilty

On Dec. 9, a 32-year-old Oldsmar man pleaded guilty to charges of cyberstalking and harassment that involved using his former girlfriend's social media accounts to make inappropriate posts. Though the man lives in Florida and the two dated in that state, the criminal charges were filed in a Delaware court.

Man allegedly hides stolen jewelry in his stomach

A Florida man is facing theft charges after a body scan revealed some unusual evidence in his stomach. The 21-year-old man was arrested on Dec. 11 after a report of a nearby home invasion. He was originally stopped by police for reckless driving, but officers became suspicious after they noticed that his 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe matched the description of a vehicle reported stolen in a home invasion in Safety Harbor.

U.S. airman standing his ground or attempting murder in melee?

In Florida, a hotbed of controversy over Stand Your Ground laws and gun rights, the family of a former Air Force service member was hoping that attention to his case might bring an order for clemency from the Governor's Office. The ex-airman was charged with second-degree attempted murder for firing a weapon during a fracas involving fraternity members from Florida A&M University at a Tallahassee nightclub. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison for what his family and others claim was self-defense.

Florida woman charged with felony murder

A Florida woman received a criminal charge of murder after one man shot another during a robbery attempt. The woman and a 23-year-old man met a month prior to the incident and eventually made another date to meet. The man arrived at the address, but, instead of a date, he was met by three men who allegedly attempted to rob him.
