Man faces charges after home searched

A so-called "grow house" bust in the Florida city of Cape Coral has resulted in a Feb. 27 seizure of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1 million, authorities said. While neighbors reported that a strange smell emanated from the home, they told a local media outlet that they were surprised to hear that an alleged $1 million marijuana growing operation was active close by.

2 separate drug raids result in arrest of 21 people

The Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team raided a Florida home and took nine people into custody on Feb. 20 after neighbors complained about possible drug activity. The individuals, who ranged in age from 23 to 39 and included both men and women, faced a number of charges, including drug possession, the sale of crack cocaine and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony. Active arrest warrants were in place for at least three people, two of whom lived at the residence. Six additional people were detained after they attempted to buy drugs from the other parties.

2 Tampa men accused of stealing from construction sites

On Feb. 6, police accused two Tampa men with stealing materials from the contractor they worked for and using those materials to remodel the home of one of the men. The 30-year-old and 25-year-old men both worked for a company that had been subcontracted by KB Homes. According to police, the two men had worked late at construction sites on multiple occasions and had taken items such as granite counter tops, appliances and molding.

Police say dead alligators, meth, pot plant found in Florida home

Police recently seized two frozen alligators from a Lake Wales, Florida, home as well as a fish not allowed by law, a marijuana plant and a sizable quantity of methamphetamine. Two men of ages 32 and 29 and a 24-year-old woman in the home were taken into custody. The younger man and the woman were reportedly a couple, but the other man was apparently only visiting them when authorities raided the house.

Florida family members arrested in drug bust

After serving a warrant, police have arrested three members of a family living on Stock Island on drug charges. Police from the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and several other law enforcement agencies, including the Key West police department and Homeland Security, searched the family's mobile trailers in conjunction with the arrests. They say they found large quantities of a number of drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine and Xanax. During the search, they also say they discovered more than $75,000 in cash and 500 undersized lobster tails.

Police conduct two raids on Florida home

The morning of Jan. 24, police officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Southern Grove Drive in St. Johns County. This raid was the second to occur at the home within one week after neighbors reportedly filed complaints that the residents of the home might be involved in illegal activity. Five individuals now stand accused of committing drug offenses.

Man charged for drug possession and trafficking

A 23-year-old Florida man has received several drug charges following a traffic stop in Okeechobee. According to reports, the man was previously convicted of drug possession charges two times in 2012. The latest incident resulted in charges for felony trafficking in methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. The man has been detained at Okeechobee County Jail on $103,000 bond.

Man accused of large-scale distribution of 'Spice'

A 28-year-old Florida man who had recently won tickets to see the finale of "Breaking Bad" has been accused of drug crimes. On Dec. 31, the man was taken into custody after authorities accused him of distributing synthetic marijuana, also called "Spice," on a large scale. The Lee County Sheriff's Office commented that the arrest would seriously limit the availability of "Spice" within the United States.

Florida youth coach facing drug charges

A Florida youth football coach is facing serious charges after being caught with marijuana. The 33-year-old man was taken into custody on Dec. 19 and is now facing drug charges. Police in Tampa say they intercepted a package containing approximately 6 pounds of marijuana intended for the suspect, who lives in the 3000 block of 38th street in the Leigh Acres.

Orlando woman arrested for laundering drug money

A 42-year-old woman from Orlando has been arrested on charges that she is part of a violent drug trafficking ring from Jamaica. Police claim her lifestyle wasn't financed by her concert promotion business but rather by the profits from marijuana the ring brought into Central Florida. The group of 50 suspects has been charged with a variety of charges ranging from trafficking marijuana to racketeering.
