Lady smuggles drug contraband into jail inside body

| Jul 25, 2013 | Drug Charges

A Florida woman is facing two sets of drug charges after being arrested and taken to jail for drug possession and trying to smuggle drug contraband into the jail. According to police, the woman was found to have two crack pipes in her genitals and failed to inform the arresting officers or jail staff about them. The 41-year-old woman was in the passenger seat of a car during a traffic stop on July 10 when the police searched the car and found a cigar wrapper filled with marijuana in her seat. When she was searched, the officers found a crack pipe in her purse.

The woman was taken into custody and was asked several times if she had any narcotics on her person and she repeatedly denied having any drugs. After arriving at the jail, the woman was led through an X-ray machine, which showed that there was, in fact, drug contraband inside of her body. One of the two crack pipes in the woman’s genitals had approximately .01 grams of crack cocaine inside of it.

According to the jail’s online inmate records, the woman is still being held at the jail on a $10,000 bond after being arrested a second time for the added charge of smuggling contraband into a detention facility. It was not reported whether the driver of the car was arrested or charged with any similar crimes. An attorney for the woman has not yet been identified.

Drug possession charges can be difficult to fight, especially without the advice of a criminal attorney who is experienced with Florida laws. Defendants in drug cases may greatly benefit from consulting such an attorney who may be able to negotiate a plea bargain or other alternative sentences.
