Man faces drug charges after being pulled over on his ATV

On Behalf of | Oct 27, 2013 | Drug Charges

A 30-year-old Florida man faces multiple charges after being pulled over while riding his All Terrain Vehicle, or ATV. During the incident, a detective allegedly found him to be in possession of several illegal items. According to the detective’s report, the man was found to be carrying a weapon, a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

When the accused was spotted driving an ATV along the 800 block of N.E. 64th Avenue in Okeechobee, he was pulled over for a traffic stop. A detective then allegedly found a glass pipe, a baggie full of suspicious white powder and a Taser in the man’s possession. According to reports, after a field test was done on the powder and residue from the pipe, the detective determined that both contained meth.

Following the traffic stop, the accused man was taken into custody at the Okeechobee County Jail and held on a $31,000 bond. He was charged with felony drug possession, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an electrical weapon by a convicted felon. He was also cited for unlawful operation of an ATV on a roadway.

The man in this case may benefit from the help of a criminal defense attorney. The attorney may be able to provide advice to the man throughout the legal proceedings and may conduct an investigation that may uncover details that may weaken the case of the prosecution. In some cases, the attorney may be able to argue that a time spent drug treatment program would be a better sentence than an extended period in jail.
