Homeless woman accused of robbery

On Behalf of | Oct 8, 2013 | Theft & Property Crimes

On Oct. 2, a 32-year-old homeless woman was accused of armed robbery and attempted robbery in Florida. A man was arrested based on allegations that he may have been her accomplice. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and accessory after the fact.

Police claim that the woman informed police that she had gone to a CVS on Emerson Drive with the intent to rob it on Sept. 13. She allegedly changed her mind and left. The woman later return to the store. Police claim that the woman admitted an initial intent to shoplift something from the store with the intent to return it for cash. Instead, police allege that she decided to rob the clerk. She is accused of writing a note on a piece of paper torn from a Steak and Shake bag. It was not stated whether the woman is believed to have received money.

The accused man is thought by police to have driven the car that the woman used to leave the CVS following the alleged robbery. He is also accused of participating in the attempted robbery of two pizza restaurants.

When a person is charged with a crime, a local criminal defense attorney might be able to help ensure that the person’s rights are protected throughout the process. In some cases, it may be possible to challenge the confession or move to have a confession suppressed. When a person faces multiple charges, it may be possible to have some dropped in exchange for a plea on the others. An attorney may also be able to help argue in favor of pretrial release at the initial appearance and review the evidence to determine the best way to provide a defense.
